(October 28, 2022)—The scandal of the exclusion of candidate Diane Sare from the upcoming Spectrum News debate scheduled for October 30th in New York does not only involve the Spectrum NY1 network, but also the polling agencies themselves. According to Spectrum, Sare was excluded because she did not achieve 15% in the polls. However, the polling companies simply did not include Sare’s name when they called voters to ask the voters’ preference for the US Senate race.
Importantly, the Sare case has now been reported on the authoritative “Ballot Access News” website which has been published since 1985, and covers detailed developments throughout the United States on "fair and equitable ballot access laws."
This is particularly striking if one considers the other topics these polls have been covering. For instance, the Siena Poll issued a release way back on March 24, 2022 with the headline: “Majority, 54%, say Ukraine War Will Financially Haunt Americans for Years”.
They write:
“Loudonville, NY – Fifty-four percent of New Yorkers say the war in Ukraine and the international response to it will lead to long-term economic problems resulting in financial difficulties that all Americans will face for years according to a new statewide survey of consumers released today by the Siena College Research Institute (SCRI).”
The report continues, quoting the Institute Director Don Levy:
“With the pandemic’s effects lessening, New Yorkers were ready to exhale, but economic conditions and war in Eastern Europe have us holding our breath again,” Levy said. “Food prices and gasoline, now worry at least eight out of every ten New Yorkers and with 70% saying inflation is negatively affecting their finances and 71% concerned about the worth of the dollar, those kitchen table discussions are not for the faint of heart.”
Yet despite the fact that only Diane Sare has discussed the disaster of the duplicitous “war” in Ukraine (which has not been declared a “war” by the US Congress) and other critical questions regarding the economy, she was left out of the Siena poll for candidates for the US Senate in New York! If a majority of voters are concerned about these issues, then why did Siena refuse to include Sare as a choice for New York voters? Is this another case of the polls rejecting Sare because they thought she would poll too high? [For more on this poll’s results see Siena College Research Institute March 2022 poll ]
